Linux administration training of trainers course
The Free and Open Source Software Foundation for Africa (FOSSFA) in cooperation with GIZ (former InWent) Germany, are planning to hold a Linux administration Training of Trainers (LToT) workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Last year (2010), in August, I was engaged as one of the authors to write the recently released, "Linux System Administration, LPI Certification Level 1" manual. The training manual has been released under a creative commons license and is free for users to redsitribute and use.
In our Linux courses we make use of two books to thoroughly cover the LPI 1 training material and we are often asked to recommend a book for self study for students and exam candidates.
The list of books that directly cover the LPI 1 course syllabus is limtied to three books that we recommend. There are two commercially available books, namely:

When you learn something useful. When you make connections with fellow students. When the material inspires ideas. When you argue for hours about cron.
What is cron? Cron allows you to schedule tasks and scripts in a Linux system. You can decide when and who can and cannot run cron. Linux allows you to run any system task through the cron system.
Starting from the 10 May 2011, Linux certification will offer Linux fundamentals and advanced evening classes. Many students cannot afford to take the time off work to attend classes during the days either because they are paying for the course themselves and cannot take time off work to, or because their company can pay for the course but is unable to give them time off work to attend the course.
